HEAT AND OZONE ALERT
HEAT & OZONE ALERT We are once again in that time of the year when there are frequent heat and ozone alerts. When you hear a heat or ozone report on the news, please remember these recommendations: 1. DRINK plenty of water—8 oz per hour—unless you are taking medication for fluid retention. Do not drink a lot of alcohol, soda, tea or coffee. 2. STAY INDOORS during the hot part of the day. 3. USE YOUR AIR CONDITIONER—that is what it is for! 4. USE A FAN if you don’t have an air conditioner, but don’t sit directly in front of a fan in a hot room with all the windows closed. Blow air out during the day and in at night. 5. WEAR COOL LOOSE CLOTHING. 6. SPEAK TO YOUR PHYSICIAN OR PHARMACIST about whether any of your medications make you more vulnerable to heat/sunstroke. 7. ATTEND a PSRC class or activity in an air conditioned room. The Suzanne Patterson Building and housing community rooms are open during the hottest part of the day; please come in and cool down if you need

Thank You Volunteers!
We here at PSRC are very proud of the program we’ve been able to put together and the services we offer. We have experienced tremendous growth in the last few years. What you may not know is that our paid staff is very small - only 2 full timers and a handful of part timers. It is only through the efforts of our wonderful volunteers that PSRC can be the kind of center that it is. Thank you everyone for helping make us a great place!
Government Rebate Scam Alert!
The government stimulus rebate program is a prime target for perpetrators of fraud. Do not fall for anyone telling you that they can help you get your rebate faster, or any such ruse. If you filed a tax return for 2007, you will get your rebate without any further effort. If you have not filed, you can still complete a tax return to apply for the rebate. We have the forms in our offices.
Social Security Debit Cards
This Spring, Social Security will make Direct Express Cards available for recipients who do not have bank accounts. This will allow direct deposit to the card and eliminate the possibility of lost or stolen checks. For more information, go to http://www.fms.treas.gov/ and search "Direct Express."
Senior Share Board
Senior Share Board Do you have a skill you can share with someone else, or need a service? Want to recommend a service provider? PSRC is starting a share board at the Suzanne Patterson Building where you can post a business card sized note. Payment may be by fee or barter arrangement, as determined between parties. PSRC will host the connection board, but can not screen or endorse any of the postings.
