Volunteer Spotlight - Honey Rosenberg

Helping others comes naturally to Honey.  After spending years as a teacher and then director of a nursery school, Honey found herself at Settlement House in Manhattan. There she worked with immigrant families helping them learn a new language and how to cope with their new environment.

After moving to Princeton, Honey answered an ad for volunteers at Spruce Circle. She was directed to SPB, where volunteers were also needed.

Working at the front desk, Honey’s lightning fast wit and friendly smile provide a welcome to all who come to PSRC, or who call in for information or assistance.  She handles the calls and the many people who stop by with questions or requests with humor and a gentle touch.  But the front reception area is not the only place you will find Honey.

Participating in Grandpals four times a week is also one of Honey’s many activities through PSRC. Reading is a life-long love, and spending time with children and having an opportunity to read to them fulfills two of Honey’s favorite things. Stop by early in the morning on Brunch at Home day and you will find Honey (and often one of her many family members) busily putting together baskets for delivery.  She can also be found helping to prepare for luncheons, special events and other activities held at the Center.  Keeping busy is something that Honey values, whether making coffee for events, cleaning up the kitchen, or straightening magazines and handouts, she never stops moving.

Oh, and if you want to know where the name “Honey” came from--her Dad gave her the nickname when she was little because of her honey colored hair.
