The Evergreen Forum

The Evergreen Forum is a volunteer organization under the auspices of the Princeton Senior Resource Center.

The Evergreen Forum program has grown dramatically over the past 10 years, from 40 participants the first semester to over 400 this Spring.  The Evergreen Forum Steering Committee and PSRC staff continue to explore ways to make the program run smoothly for everyone.    At the same time, we are aware that demand is greater than capacity.  We want to maintain a commitment to small discussion-based classes, and this means that some will be disappointed, but most people do get into the classes of their choice.

This will give you an idea of how things will work for Fall 2010.  Please read carefully as some procedures have changed.

July 15:  Course information will be posted on the website

August 6:  Brochures will be mailed to everyone on the mailing list by First Class mail.

August 9:  Click here for the registration form which you can download to mail in.  There will not be online registration this Fall.  Registrations will be accepted by mail.  No phone registrations will be accepted.  We expect to perfect online registration for future semesters.  This year presents a unique challenge in that the Suzanne Patterson Building will be closed as it is scheduled to get a new floor and sound deadening materials between July 15 and September 1.  The staff will be at Spruce Circle (off Harrison St.) or available by phone and email during this time.

August 25: The Lottery will be held for over-subscribed courses.    This semester we will continue the practice of giving preference to those who did not get in to their first choice last semester, but discontinue preferences after this term.  Registration will remain open for courses that are not filled until the first week of classes.  We continue to work toward devising a system that will be fair to the greatest number of people.

August 26-27: Everyone will be contacted by phone, email or mail about the courses they did/did not get into.  We plan to move toward more email communication and information posted on the website.  Refunds will be issued or checks returned for classes you did not get into by mid-September.

September 27: First day of classes.  Classes will not be held Thanksgiving Day or the day after.

October 4: Last day to drop/add a class.  There will be a $10 administrative charge for all refunds.

All course leaders are volunteers who look forward to working with an involved student body.  Please do not register for a course unless you expect to be able to attend a majority of the classes.

We are very excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary year of The Evergreen Forum.  We are delighted to have been able to form a community of people who are interested in lifelong learning and look forward to seeing many of you in the fall.
