The Evergreen Forum is a peer led, continuing education program offering day time courses for interested adults of the Princeton area. Its main purpose is to provide group study opportunities on topics selected by the membership, emphasizing participation and interaction. The Forum operates under the auspices of the Princeton Senior Resource Center. Membership is attained by enrolling in a course or leading a course. Members are encouraged to contribute to the administration and operation of the program by serving as officers, committee members, and seminar coordinators. In particular, all members are encouraged to offer to lead a course of their own choosing.
The Evergreen Forum is now in its tenth year and continues to grow steadily, with an active and enthusiastic membership. We are a volunteer organization: course leaders are not paid.
Governance: The Evergreen Forum is guided by a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and other members of a Steering Committee who set policy, propose courses, do publicity, and monitor outcomes. Its sponsoring organization is the PrincetonSeniorResourceCenter.
Course Leaders: Leaders serve on a volunteer basis. Though all courses are different, in all it is important that class members be active participants and encouraged to lead discussion or make presentations on specific topics when appropriate. Leaders choose readings and texts as needed and arrange to order books or copy materials for distribution as necessary.
Annual Meeting: Invitations to an Annual meeting are sent to all who have taken courses or expressed interest in the Forum. The meeting, held at the SuzannePattersonCenter in the fall, is designed to showcase courses for the spring and to elicit suggestions for new courses.
