10:00 AM Exploring Princeton University’s Architecture – Evergreen Forum (WH)

Widely praised for iconic Nassau Hall, imposing collegiate gothic buildings, and beautifully landscaped grounds, Princeton University’s 260–year-old campus is actually a broadly diverse sampling of American architectural styles from colonial times to the present. This course will explore both the forms and functions of Princeton University’s buildings, and the historical, social, and cultural contexts that reveal their legacies. There will be eight meetings: five two-hour sessions in the classroom, and three 90-minute campus walks.
Leaders: Michael Lundy is a Princeton University Art Museum docent, and a walking-tour guide for the Historical Society of Princeton. Jon Hlafter was Princeton University’s director of physical planning from 1968 to 2004, and University Architect until his retirement in 2008.
Thursdays: 10:00 a.m. to noon, 8 weeks: September 26 through November 14
