10:00 AM The History of Princeton (PCOL)

This course will focus on the history of the Princeton community, its local historical figures and institutions and their role in city, state, and national events. We will examine the history of three of its most prominent institutions – Princeton University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Institute for Advanced Study and how they have shaped the community. We will also study the effects of the American Revolution on Princeton and the role of its citizens in the “ten crucial days” of the war that have been hailed as a turning point in the revolution. Vintage and contemporary photographs will supplement the lectures.  

Leader: Kurt Steiner, PhD, is a docent of the Historical Society of Princeton and regularly leads historical tours of Princeton for local and outoftown groups.   

Wednesdays: 10:00 a.m. to noon, 8 weeks: September 25 through November 20 (no class on 10/9)  

Location: The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, Maximum 30 seats
