1:30 PM Understanding Contemporary Art From the 60s to the Present – Evergreen Forum (PCOL)

October 1, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Enjoying contemporary art can be challenging. A dramatic change took place in the 1950s and 1960s, moving the center of the art world from Paris to New York.  We will start in the Fifties with the Abstract- Expressionism movement, led by Jackson Pollock and Willem DeKooning, who abandoned hundreds of years of representational art. The Sixties are considered the beginning of the Pop Art concept with Andy Warhol and his iconic soup can. But there were many other movements: Op Art, Minimal Art, Conceptual Art, Earth Art, Performance Art, Photography, Graffiti, and Video Art.  We will end with Art Now, the exciting work of the 21st century.

Leader: Wendy Worth is a graduate of Pratt Institute and a well-known art historian.

Tuesdays: 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., 6 weeks: September 24 through October 29

Location: Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, Maximum 16 seats
