1:30 PM What is Time? – Evergreen Forum (PSRC)

October 4, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Though time is most familiar to us, it defies a clear description of what it is and how we are to understand it. In this course, we will explore two explanations of what time is. One explanation takes all of time as real and existing. The other takes only the present as real and existing. These viewpoints are examined with regard to psychological perception, literary expression, classical physics and modern physics. An introduction to the underlying concepts in philosophy, psychology, and physics will be presented.

Leader: Stuart Kurtz, whose current interests are in the philosophy of science and time, has had a career in both science and engineering, and as a researcher in industry.

Fridays: 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., 6 weeks: October 4 through November 15 (no class on 10/25)
